Proanthocyanidins PAC Assay Kit is based on reaction of 4-dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde (DMAC) with procyanidins’ A cycle’s C8, in terminal units of proanthocyanidin.

This reaction produces a green/blue colored compound that can be measured by spectrophotometry at 640 nm. As a result, this wavelength excludes the spectra of anthocyanidins, which are a source of interference in other assays.
